The website was developed with speed, SEO, and content clarity at its core. Built entirely using the GeneratePress theme and GenerateBlocks builder, HistoryTrek is a testament to what lightweight WordPress frameworks can accomplish when combined with thoughtful planning and strategic development.

Unlike traditional websites with heavy dependencies on bulky page builders, this project aimed for a minimalist, block-based development approach that prioritizes load time and content hierarchy.

From the outset, the strategy was clear: create an educational hub that provides rich historical information without overwhelming the user with visual clutter.

During the discovery phase, I focused on answering key questions:
- Who is the target audience?
→ Students, educators, and history lovers. - What kind of content will be prioritized?
→ Articles, timelines, facts, and short narratives. - What performance goals are realistic?
→ Load time under 2 seconds, GTmetrix grade A, and a mobile-first experience.
Design Philosophy
GeneratePress was chosen for its:

- Full customization options through hooks and filters
GenerateBlocks gave us the flexibility to build reusable, responsive, and fully customizable block-based layouts without writing excessive custom code.
The design followed the principles of:

- Consistency – styling reused across articles to maintain visual coherence
A monochromatic color palette with soft accents was selected to reflect the academic tone of the site while remaining visually engaging.
